Sometimes there are assignments for information courses that cannot be submitted on a home PC.
In many cases, students cannot submit assignments for information-related courses (programming, design, etc.) at Kanagawa University unless they transfer the data to their own PCs via USB, etc. This can be quite a problem if you do not have a USB or if you forgot to transfer the data to your USB.
Did you know that you can download and upload files remotely from home via the Internet?
The university is not actively introducing such a convenient system, even though it is available. (I wonder why)
Step 1: Download Filezilla
1.please access this site.
Once you have accessed this site, click on Download FileZilla Client, which is circled by a red square.
2. Click on "Download" in the red square on the left.
The download will start.
3. Open the downloaded file.
[The file name may differ depending on your environment (version), but this is not a problem].
Click on the downloaded file (the image below is when using Chrome)
When you get a screen like this, press Yes.
4. Start setup.
Please read the Terms of Use and click I Agree.
Select Decline as shown in the image below and click Next.
Next, select Anyone who uses this computer and click Next.
Click "Next" to continue.
Click Next again.
Next click on Install.
Installation is complete, make sure Start FileZilla now is checked and click
Click Finish.
Step 2: Log in with your MNS account
After following the steps in Step 1., you should see a screen like the one in the image below.
Enter the hostname, user name, password, and port in the table at the top of the image.
hostname① | ssh.kanagawa-u.ac.jp |
---|---|
Username② | User name for MNS account |
Password③ |
Password for MNS account
|
Port④ | 22 |
As shown in the table, once you have entered the information and clicked on Quick Connect, you can connect to the school's server.
You will see a screen like this (it varies greatly depending on your PC environment).
*The parts of student ID numbers and personal information are blacked out.
The screen on the left shows the files on your PC, and the screen on the right shows the files stored on the school's server.
When you want to download a file from the school's server
On the left screen, select the folder (your PC) where you want to put the downloaded files.
On the right screen, select the file you want to download. Right-click on the file you want to download and click "Download" to start the download.
By following the above steps, you can download files from the school's server.
On the other hand, when you want to upload a file from your PC to the school's server
In that case, you can drag and drop the file you want to upload into the folder you want to put it in.
(Once the upload is complete, you will also be able to view the uploaded file in the PC lab.)
You gotta do a drag and drop.
Step 3. if you found this article helpful, retweet it!
I really hope you will retweet this article if it helps, because I worked hard on it from midnight to 5 in the morning. (pretty serious)
By the way, if you have any questions, please don't DM me but reply to me!
I will answer as much as I can! (I will not take responsibility!)
